Mariachi Tabasko is a traditional mariachi ensemble playing son jarocho-based music from Veracruz. Led by singer and guitarrón player Diego Khol the band delivers the passion and the love they feel for México and its culture when performing every song in their vast repertoire.
Diego was Born in Ajijic Mexico, A small lakeside town where he spent his childhood learning to play the guitar and learning to sing in Spanish. At age 10 Diego and his family moved to Canada. Diego is an Alumni from the Music Department at Vancouver Community College where he majored in classical piano and minored in Jazz guitar and received his Bachelor degree in Classical Piano. Diego remarks that “Nothing takes me back to my Mexican roots quite like Mariachi music.”
It is the goal of Mariachi Tabasko, one of Vancouver’s premier Mariachi bands, to share the traditional music of Mexico with North America and to promote the beauty of Mexico by interpreting its music with great elegance and style. The musicians sing many heartfelt Rancheras, romantic Boleros, rhythmic Huapangos, Polkas, Cumbias and Sones. Mariachi Tabasko performs regularly through-out the lower Mainland and are available for all of your events, festivals and parties.
