Jared Richardson (JD Rich) is a Canadian composer, producer, and pianist based in Vancouver, BC, whose work spans orchestral, jazz, fusion, electronic music, and film scoring. A Berklee College of Music alumnus, Jared’s compositions have been performed by respected ensembles including the Victoria Symphony, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and the Hollywood Studio Symphony.
As bandleader and keyboardist, he leads projects like JD Rich (songwriter/producer) and Purple Comet Orchestra, an instrumental collective that interprets music from movies and video games. Inspired by nature, many of his musical ideas emerge while hiking on the West Coast, and melody is always at the core of his writing.
Jared’s goal is to create music that resonates with a wide audience while maintaining artistic depth and integrity. Whether composing for large orchestras, producing electronic soundscapes, or arranging intimate piano works, he brings a distinct voice informed by rigorous training, creative curiosity, and a love of storytelling through sound.
