Tom Arntzen is a sophisticated, swinging jazz singer/pianist. The mellow but lively repertoire of this talented musician includes music from Cole Porter, Gershwin, Duke Ellington and other composers of the great American song book, in addition to contemporary favourites. Tom Arntzen is also an excellent vocalist, performing in a croonin’ Frank Sinatra-style.
Tom Arntzen grew up surrounded by the authentic Dixieland jazz of his father, Lloyd Arntzen and remembers having trouble falling asleep during the regular Saturday night jam sessions. Tom attended the Vancouver Community College music program to study jazz and classical voice. In 1979 he began touring with a variety of musical projects as a freelance singer/keyboardist and settled in Vancouver in 1985 to pursue his musical career. His numerous credits include Jessie and West Coast Music Award nominations for Musical Direction and Composition.
Onstage, Tom Arntzen has a natural flair for showmanship, swinging a Frank Sinatra-style number, rocking out with those all-time favourite hits from the ‘50’s to the ‘90’s, or setting an intimate mood with a ballad. His incredible range and pure talent shine through. Tom uses relaxed, hip humour to keep the evening moving, and his warm and engaging stage presence and close attention to the needs of the audience guarantee a great time.
