Thomas Beckman (Viola/Violin) and Jarrett Plett (Drums/Cajon) began playing together as as street performers in downtown Vancouver on Granville Street. They quickly earned a reputation for their intensity and showmanship. In late 2014 they released the full-length album “Imperative Drive” epitomizing their time on the street.
After winning the Storyhive contest for a $10k documentary, the duo bid adieu to the busking life and shifted their inspiration to studio production and performances for special events. Guitarist Justin Brown joined the band in early 2015. In only a few short years the group has scored, arranged, edited, mixed and produced over a dozen film projects. Some of these have won international prizes and earned critical acclaim, while others continue to gain momentum from appearances at international film festivals.
Sons of Granville have performed at The Sea to Sky Gondola Friday Music Series, CiTR Sounds of the City and the Squamish Valley Music Festival in addition to numerous events from casual pubs dates to formal galas.
