Louise Southwood is a passionate guitarist with a Classical and Latin repertoire that is the perfect soundscape to any event. Born in Paris, Louisa began playing guitar at an early age with many competition successes and performances throughout the UK. At age twelve she began studying privately with the eminent guitarist Carlos Bonell, who has been a major and lasting influence on her musical career.
Awarded a Bachelor of Music (hons) degree at The Royal College of Music in London, she has completed an intense performing period collaborating with many other musicians as well as attended master classes with some of the world’s most renowned guitarists.
Louise spent seven years teaching and performing in Bermuda, where she met talented violinist David France and formed the ‘Southwood-France Duo’. They have performed regularly at the Bermuda International Guitar Festival and opened the Kodai Kanal International Guitar Festival in India. In addition to this, Louise has performed in the UK, Australia, India, Bermuda, the USA and Canada.
Currently Louise teaches at The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra School of Music. She is very active performing for weddings and corporate events in addition to concert performances. Whether performing as a soloist, guitar duo or guitar/violin duo, Louisa creates the perfect atmosphere with her beautiful music.
