Ben Henriques is a talent sax player who performs as a Jazz duo with guitar, trio with guitar & bass or as a quartet by adding a drummer. Originally a native of Vancouver, Ben made his way to Montreal in 2001 to study Jazz at McGill University where he earned his Bachelor’s in Jazz Performance. Ben completed his Masters in Jazz Performance at McGill’s Schulich School of Music in 2012.
Since then Ben has made a name for himself on the Jazz scene as a musician, bandleader, recording engineer and an educator. He has shared the stage with such Jazz greats as Joe Lovano, Dave Liebman and many more. His first record as a leader “The Responsibility Club” rose to #1 on the airwaves and was also selected as #2 jazz album by Radio Jazz Plus. Since then he has released additional albums to much acclaim.
Ben currently teaches Saxophone and Flute at Vancouver Island University in addition to working as a freelance musician and teacher in Vancouver.
