The Al Guraliuk Jazz Trio provides the perfect background music for receptions and dinners. Al lists his influences as Chet Baker and early Miles Davis with Wynton Marsalis and Chris Botti being his current favourite musicians. In his own playing, Al strives to attain a balance between emotion and technique, and above all, a sound that really swings.
Since receiving a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of British Columbia in 1979, Al Guraliuk has been actively involved in Vancouver’s musical community. He has traveled to New York, New Orleans, Havana and Rio to further study music. For over 30 years Al was leader of Champagne, one of Vancouver’s top corporate party bands. ( He is known to remark: “Then Lady Gaga tunes started making me gag!”) He is also a featured trumpet player with Latin Lounge, The Gastown Strutters Dixieland Band and The Gatsby Strutters Jazz Band, in addition to being involved with numerous other projects.
The vast experience and the extensive repertoire of this talented musician make The Al Guraliuk Jazz Trio ideal for any situation. For larger groups requiring more of a groove, this ensemble can also work as a quartet with drums.
“Their music was well received during the evening and received rounds of applause (even though they were ‘background’ music). Several people added comments with regard to the Gala evening mentioning that it was a ‘classy’ evening – obviously, thanks in part to Al Guraliuk’s group.”
