Angela Leigh McIlroy-Wagar is a Vancouver-born, internationally acclaimed circus artist known for performances that are as striking as they are unexpected. Blending balloon performance with theatrical storytelling and waacking—a high-energy disco dance style defined by sharp poses and rapid arm movements—Angela creates visually rich acts filled with elegant lines, unusual angles, and moments of playful surprise. Her work often explores themes of femininity, high camp, and transformation, resulting in performances that feel both technically daring and artistically expressive.
Angela began her circus journey at just three years old within Vancouver’s youth circus community before moving to Montreal at sixteen to train at the renowned École Nationale de Cirque. This foundation of early exploration and elite training informs her distinctive performance style, where precision meets personality and spectacle meets story.
Now based in Vancouver, Angela brings a bold, contemporary circus aesthetic to stage productions, festivals, and special events. Each performance is carefully crafted to suit the space and audience, offering a unique blend of movement, character, and theatrical flair. The result is an engaging, memorable experience that leaves audiences intrigued, energized, and just a little delightfully disoriented.
