the tiller's folly celtic band

The Tiller's Folly have created true, heroic Canadian tales, carrying on the Celtic heart beating across the decks of battered ships many maritime moons ago. Their debut, The View From Here, followed by numerous successful CDs all spin a high energy meld of traditional instrumentation and sounds.

The songs and storytelling of this unique presentation features insightful portraits of the people and events that helped shape our Pacific Canadian province, British Columbia. The music begins with songs of the earliest fur trade explorations, through to the legendary gold rush that led to British Colonization (1858). The songs then carry forward to the province's inclusion in the Dominion of Canada and continue to include our province today. A richly diverse and unique global society, which embraces many cultures and ideals.

The repertoire of Tillers Folly is perfect for background music and concert performances. For major events the band can perform with a multi-media presentation that includes the music and imagery of British Columbia. Rare archival photographs, unique historical video, vivid rural images of our country and impressive graphics are woven together with the lyrics and music of Tiller's Folly for a unique experience.

The Tiller's Folly have emerged as enigmatic, modern day story-telling of lore. They unite past and present via centuries old Irish and Scottish themes. Jigs, reels, aires and ballads leap along the pulse of modern pop to personify Celtic music - Gaelic origins, welcoming new influences and evolving with each generation.

The Tiller's Folly performs high-energy acoustic roots music with Pacific Northwest flair. Their unique blend of Celtic/Folk/Rock/Pop/Bluegrass is gaining popularity far and wide.

Nancy Cottingham Powell, Entertainment Production, PNE

"This full-throated Canadian Celtic group, a cross between Stan Rogers and the Clancy Brothers, is on a stirring crusade. It wants to establish an oral story-telling tradition for the settlers, fishers, natives, loggers and adventurers of the misty West Coast."
