Phil Hanley started standup comedy by performing at open mics around Vancouver, often in between bands at music venues. In these establishments he discovered and honed his unique blending of material and crowd interaction that makes no two of his performances the same.
Phil’s performances at The 2008 Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal brought him international acclaim. His jokes were recognized in the Montreal Gazette’s annual "Best jokes of the Festival". He was also named one of the five comics creating a buzz at the festival by The Hollywood Reporter and rewarded with a featured segment on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
And finally, one of Phil’s most cherished accomplishments is being a credited screenwriter for Don Knotts’ final film project. In recent years Phil has enjoyed touring Canada coast to coast, but this spring he plans to relocate to New York City and his parents plan to finally convert his childhood bedroom into a den.
