D’arcy Han : Vocals, Keyboards, Percussion
Moving easily from sultry jazz to edgy funk, D’arcy Han’s exquisite vocals can just as easily bring a smile to your face as a tear to your eye. D’arcy started classical piano training at the age of four, and made her vocal debut at age seven on Chinese national TV.
Moving to Canada, D’arcy has become a powerful voice on the Vancouver scene, with a repertoire encompassing jazz, RnB, Pop, Blues and a touch of world. She fronted Serpentine Funkfor two consecutive years at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, while performing regularly with the ultimate party band Ten Souljers.
In 2004 D’arcy represented North America taking 3rd place in the equivalent of Chinese Idol, introducing soul and blues to billions of viewers on live television. She has shared the stage with localRnB artists Kentish Steele and Riley Inge and Asian superstars such as Sammi Cheng. Her voice has been heard at venues including BC Place, the Commodore Ballroom and Orpheum Theatre.
Michael Aihoshi: Guitars, Synthesizer, Percussion, Vocals
From the surrounds of Toronto, Michael started playing local bars at the age of 15, and within a few years was touring nationally.
His credits include two years with Canada’s King of Soul The George Oliver Band as well as sharing the stage with some of Canada’s premier musicians. Michael is currently band-leader for local RnB legends Kentish Steele and Riley Inge (formerly from the Temptations). Michael was the lead guitarist in Serpentine Funk, which performed two consecutive years at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, before forming Encore with vocalist D’arcy Han.
